A night at the opera ...!

Longborough Festival Opera 2008 season opens with a new production of La Traviata on 11th June conducted by Gianluca Marciano and directed by Sarah V Chew. This is followed by a new production of Janacek’s The Cunning Little Vixen with Ella Kirkpatrick in the title role; conducted by Jonathan Lyness and directed by Richard Studer. A revival of last year’s acclaimed production of Das Rheingold conducted by Anthony Negus and directed by Alan Privett has a company which includes Phillip Joll, Peter Bronder and Colette McGahon. There will be a Midsummer Gala Concert on Saturday 21st June conducted by Jeremy Silver and a Young Artists’ Production of The Coronation of Poppea, directed by Jenny Miller and conducted by Lesley Anne Sammons. Situated high in the Cotswolds with glorious views, Longborough’s performances include a 90 minute dinner interval (except Das Rheingold) offering opportunities to dine in the restaurants or enjoy a picnic. La Traviata is sold out.
