Booking Information

Fees per person: The fee for each event is given with the description. It includes tuition, VAT and, where stated, any transport costs, entry charges and materials.

Weekend Residential fees include all meals and are given for Single and Double or Twin rooms. We offer weekend students Sunday night Bed and Breakfast at special rates: Single £36. Double or Twin £31.

Weekend Non-Residential fees include lunches and dinners.

Day School fees include refreshments and lunch. We are sometimes able to offer Day School students: 3 course dinner, bed and breakfast on the Friday or Saturday night. Fee per person per night: Single £68.50; Double or twin £63.50.

Evening/Afternoon Talk fees include refreshments after the talk.

Taxi from Moreton-in-Marsh railway station to Farncombe and return: £15, booked in advance. This is provided on a Friday evening with return usually after lunch Sunday. Departure from the station is currently 5.25 pm and from Farncombe on Sunday 2.30 pm. Times may be changed if train timings change.

Bookings and deposits: Weekend Courses are subject to payment of a £50 deposit per person within four working days of booking and balance one month before the course.

Day School and Evening Talk fees must be paid in full within four working days of booking. Course places and accommodation may not be kept if payments are not received by the due dates. If you have special dietary needs or any significant disability, please mention them when booking. Deposits, Day School and Evening Talk fees are non-refundable but, up to four weeks before the event, may be transferred to another course on one occasion, provided this is done at the time of cancellation of the original booking.

No refunds will be given and no transfers accepted for cancellations made less than four weeks before the event. Cheques should be made payable to Farncombe Estate ALC Ltd.

Acknowledgement will be sent for each booking, together with notification of the balance due and date for payment. No reminder will be sent. Changes made by students to bookings may incur an administration charge of £15.

Accommodation availability: If, when we receive your booking and deposit, our accommodation is fully booked, we will advise you and suggest alternative accommodation within a few miles of the Farncombe Estate. If all places on a course are taken, we will ask if you would like to be on the course waiting list or consider an alternative course.

Discounts: From time to time we offer discounts on events. All offers are subject to availability and are non-transferable, i.e. if used when booking a course cannot then be transferred to a different course. The discount code must be quoted at the time of booking and only one discount can be applied per course booked. Offers cannot be back dated and, unless stated otherwise, exclude String Chamber Music Weekends, Gift Vouchers and bookings for accommodation only. Our normal booking terms and conditions apply.

Cancellations and refunds: If the course of your choice does not take place because there are not enough enrolments to make it viable, we will refund your fee in full.We regret that refunds cannot be given in any other circumstances. If you are travelling from outside the UK, we suggest you contact us to check course viability before booking your travel. Farncombe Estate ALC Ltd reserves the right to alter the content, date and time of the programme, or identity of the tutor, if necessary.

Cancellations by Bed & Breakfast guests (nonstudents): Deposit payments may be required for B&B bookings. We require 24 hours notice of any cancellation (full or in part) prior to the date of arrival. Failure to do so will result in a charge of 1 night’s stay (or in some instances the full stay will be charged).We will accept your cancellation without penalty if cancellation is made before 12-noon on the day before you are due to stay.

Cancellation Insurance: We suggest you take out your own insurance in case you have to cancel through illness or other unforeseen circumstances.We have found an appropriate cancellation policy which will be sent to you with confirmation of your booking. Please note that we have no financial or other interest in doing this except to provide you with information.

Arrival and departure times:

Weekend Courses: Most courses run from Friday to Sunday. Arrival on a Friday is usually from 5.00 pm in time for the evening meal at 7.00 pm. On Sunday departure is normally after lunch unless you have booked to stay on for an extra night when departure is after breakfast on Monday. Some courses finish later on Sunday afternoon, and some on Monday. A few courses run on other days and these days and timings are stated in the course description.

Day Schools: Arrival is usually by 9.30 am for a 9.45 am start. Day Schools usually finish at 4.30pm.

Evening Talks: Usually start at 7.15 pm and have refreshments around 8.30 pm.

Afternoon Talks: Usually start at 2.30pm and end with refreshments around 4.00pm. Please check start times on the course description.

Mobility: We are on a hillside, but if students have difficulty moving between buildings we will arrange transport as needed.

Facilities for the Disabled: We aim to assist disabled students.We have four bedrooms designed with wider access and more spacious ensuite facilities for wheelchair users. Most of our bedrooms are accessible with only two or three steps. Almost all our teaching rooms are accessible without steps as are our reception, bar and dining room.We have some facilities to assist students with impaired hearing. Do tell us if you have any particular requirements.

Pets: If joining us for the weekend, you are welcome to bring along your dog, subject to prior arrangement and a charge of £12 for the weekend. Dogs are not allowed in public areas or to be left unattended in bedrooms. Guide dogs are specifically excluded from this policy and are welcome throughout the Centre.
